The Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Co. of China has a proposal situated somewhere between Superstudio and Plug-In City: An elevated megabus/subway hybrid that slides over the traffic instead of going around it, or creating congestion itself. From the looks of the video though, this excludes trucks—they'll have to go around, as if they don't have it hard enough already.

...my mind, it is blown. Also, I have a chorus of safety conscious alerts that are going off...
And...wouldn't you feel *completely* freaked out if the "overload bus" crept over your vehicle? I think I'd have a Imperial Star Destroyer "caught in a tractor beam" sinking feeling. I *might* get used to it...
This is such fascinating idea though. How about a lane dedicated to that mass transit where the lower portion is also a mass transit bus that makes frequent stops and the upper one is an "express bus"?

Probably works in a straight line - but how well does it go around corners?
How do you turn without risking one of these suckers splitting your hybrid in half?
What happens if both lanes underneath this bus are taken, and there's an ambulance? It's not like you can move to the side.
I know that in American there are plenty of drivers who get nervous or scared to drive NEXT to a big 16-wheeler... haha forget about them driving under something like this!
Wonderful, wonderful idea though. I am super impressed!!
The officer Indio da Costa Design has a project like this one in Brazil. Great.
