Cool.
Even though it's pretty easy to figure how it works, I don't think I could ever bring myself to actually touch the wires to switch it on or off :)
(But then, I don't really trust any touch-to-switch lamps anyway.)
batteries, duh.
so i'm guessing that the wiring runs through the hook bit and the bare wires are just touch-lamp contact points...
beautiful and its one of those "i wish i had thought of that" or rather " i should have designed that." however, its doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out how it really works...
There`s something that does not fit for me... lamps of that type only need 2 electrical cables, and there are 3 of them but those lamps do not have land connection (security 3rd cable)
p.d.: sorry if my english is not good
Hey tt's easy. The bulb is probably not incandecent. With LED as the "bulb" the coiling of the wires allow the use of EM waves to induce electricity. "Think rfid tag and those accessories that light up when ur handphone rings"
that's a link to the worst site ever. any hints on which buttons to mash?
inductance loop
:p
Funny how everyone says it's easy to figure out how it works, but offers no explanation themselves. Batteries? If the designer is to be trusted, there are none contained within. Personally, I think Harlo is correct in his post. As far as the LED explanation is concerned, LEDs do not tend to emit light of that character, although the photo could be deceptive.
Yup, its batteries according to the site.
took me long enough tho, the site makes me want to smash my computer. Argh!
Luke: I didn't want to spoil it in the first post and/or I thought it was more obvious than it seems to be for others :) but, yeah, I agree with Harlo and you.
And the black part at the top of the hook kinda gives it away, too.
