Neatorama have visualized what 12 terabytes-worth of information looks like to illustrate the recent court case ordering Google to hand over the entire viewing history of YouTube to Viacom, that includes when each video was played, how many times, when it was deleted, each viewer's unique login ID and IP address.
Viacom is seeking at least $1 billion in damages for copyright infringement and need access to the records to prove the extent of their alleged losses. Obviously preparing the data to hand over is a time consuming exercise, we like Neatorama's suggestion for the delivery of files:
... it seems that if information is information, then Google should just hand over the data in 5 billion sheets of single-spaced typewritten page. Comic sans font. IN CAPS!
Now that would truly be awesome.

Uhhhh....being the geek that I am...I just figured out how long it would take to print out 5 billion pages on a very fast machine. Like the Oce VarioPrint 6250 that can print 250ppm it would take 38 YEARS to print all those pages. I think the printer would burn up before then! Hey...I couldn't resist figuring out how possible that would be.
