Natuurcafé La Port in the Netherlands recently installed a rotating door that captures kinetic energy generated by pedestrian traffic. Designed by architects RAU and built by Boon Edam, they claim the door is the first realization of this concept in the world generating roughly 4600 kwh of energy each year—granted it's not much but surely a step in the right direction.

What a GREAT GREEN DESIGN idea.
I love it. Smart and Efficient !
I'm not convinced it IS a step in the right direction. The increased energy required to build this, instead of a normal door, is probably quite huge. Think of all the refining of materials needed to produce a generator, dc to ac inventor, batteries, circuits, bracing, etc. I think producing a revolving door with few parts, or installing them on buildings that currently lack them, would be a more "green" solution.
