Inspiring Photographs from Around the World

Competition Background

What inspires you? What thought, object, vista, event or person has moved you more than any other? To celebrate the launch of the international BraunPrize 2009, Braun and Core77 invited people around the globe to share their most inspiring images and stories with the world.

Participants were urged to use their camera as a lens or as a paintbrush, as a tool for revealing, informing, or provoking. We were looking for photographs that made an emotional connection with others and which would resonate with the message of inspiration.

Process

Participants uploaded images to the site, and visitors voted on their favorites. In all, over 2,400 photos were uploaded to the competition, and over 20,000 votes were registered. Top vote-getters became shortlisted, and representatives from Braun and Core77 judged the photos to determine the winner and runners up. The Grand Prize winner of the competition received a trip to attend the lavish BraunPrize Awards Ceremony on September 16th, 2009, in Kronberg, Germany, including a tour of the BraunCollection and the chance to meet representatives from the Braun design team. The Runners Up, in addition to a "people's choice" award winner, received a bundle of innovative, high-end Braun products.
