Big Design has announced the opening of their new office in New York City as well as the launch of a bunch of cool new products, like the Cuisinar SmartPower Basics Blender and the Walker Clarity 500 telephone.
Big Design, a 9-year-old multidisciplinary product development consultancy, saw the NY area as a logical spot for their second location.

Devin Moore, Big Designs president and Design Director states that, Our vision has always been to have multiple, small studios with a shared culture. New York gets us closer to many of our clients and enables us to explore new services. Donna Wilson, a recent transplant from Cambridge, England has joined the Big Design team to assist in business development activities.

The SmartPower Basics Blender provides consumers with performance, versatility and style for under $40.00. Working closely with Cuisinart's marketing, engineering and manufacturing teams, Big Design developed two distinct appearance strategies for their mid and high-end product lines. The SmartPower Basics Blender illustrates the midline strategy that highlights soft forms, surface finish and versatility. The high-end strategy, represented in the award winning, FlavorDuo Ice Cream Maker incorporates strong form, stainless steel and additional functionality.

The Walker Clarity 500 telephone was developed for growing population of hearing impaired. Leveraging QFD principles, Big Design conducted qualitative and quantitative market research to identify unmet needs and establish feature rankings. The team concluded that the hearing impaired did not want to be considered a special needs customer.. Our solution, recalls designer Nheeda Enriquez, was to combine a strong, contemporary form with integrated features such as large buttons, an easy-to-view displays and intuitive Clarity Power technology.
