The design group at Cross Pens has released the new Metal Ion, a compact, versatile 3.5 inch pen. The Ion opens for writing with an innovative one hand open/close feature that extends the length of the pen. According to designer Gregor Mittersinker, the pen comes with "an easy-on, easy-off off 'quick-clip' attachment that can be readily fastened to back stage passes, travel bags and key rings." I don't know about key rings, but when flashing a backstage pass a compact pen would be the perfect accessory for grabbing autographs.
