Whipsaw, a product design consultancy based in San Jose, is on a roll. In the last year they've won four Good Design awards from the Chicago Athenaeum, along with awards in the Japanese Mark G awards program and CES Innovatin Awards. The Gateway Profile 5 computer took home one of the Good Design awards. The Profile 5 is a compact all-in-one computer with a tiny footprint of only 6 x 12 inches. It has a fully adjustable and upgradeable display; an integrated handle; and hi-fi speakers.

In addition, they've recently completed work on a new line of MP3 players from RIO, shown above. Whipsaw provided design, packaging and market positioning consulting for Rio Audio's 2003/4 line. The three players target high-end, mid-range and mass-market users with varying degrees of features, functionality and price points. The integrated and innovative packaging solution helps differentiate the products from their competition on the shelf, while unifying the line by using a common design language and construction technique.
