Evo Design, a twelve person consultancy based in Connecticut, recently partnered with Conair Consumer Electronics on the Hummer X Player, a cd player in the line of personal audio products under license from GM. The controls, grill, rubber elements, and aggressive form reference the vehicle, with some literal image hallmarks and materials.

In addition, the firm recently relocated their offices, taking posession of a decommissioned sewage treatment plant and renovating the modernist building into a gleaming new design studio. The origianl facility had three large garage bays, an office and an on-site labaroatory for regulatory and process testing. The new space has a mezanine level in the garage, a model shop, and room for growth. Evo's employees were careful to design the space around the original structure, maintaining the characteristics of a municipal building while updating the interior with a contemporary, urban look. Fortunately for Evo's staff, there is no lingering smell. A state grant helped clean the land a year ago.
