DD STUDIO, a San Diego-based product design firm, competed head-to-head with the world's leading design firms at NIKE's "No-Holds-Barred" Derby at the recent IDSA National Conference. After miniature racing research, an internal DD concept round, and three all-nighters that left their fingers raw from polishing, their Car #12 drove away with the coveted NIKE STYLE AWARD trophy. DD STUDIO's design was "just plain beautiful, a piece of jewelry" according to judges.

Materials for Car #12 included CNC machined & polished tungsten, copper and magnesium, resin mixes, stainless steel axles, racing bearings and Teflon tires. Along with the design and engineering, all manufacturing and prototyping was done in-house.
