Alex Valich and Christine Warren founded their Brooklyn-based design studio, redstr/collective, in 2003. Their recently released American Dollhouse 1 collection features pieces inspired by two major design movements, Art Deco and American Empire. While the historic associations are inherently noticeable, the designs simultaneously balance past influences with thoughtful innovation.

The Spinderella side table conveys a mix of newness and tradition through its aesthetic, assembly, and use of material. Inspired by classic Sheridan legs, the CAD-programmed, CNC-cut profile pieces illustrate familiar spindle shapes while offering the modern convenience of flat-pack shipping and storage. The material used is Environ, a sheet composite comprised of recycled paper and rapidly renewable agricultural resources. Spinderella is available in Sunset and Midnight-hued bio-composites.
