Smart Design, a NYC based multidisciplinary design firm, has developed the Hear Music Media Bar, a unique interactive music system kiosk, for chain caffeine king Starbucks. The station allows the user to browse music, generate song lists, and burn and purchase custom music CD's all while sipping on a super mocha extreme grande latte frappuccino, or any other delectable coffee beverage.

The Smart Design team's main goal was to seamlessly incorporate the music bar into a non-technical, well-established retail environment in coordination with and conducive to the Starbuck's brand. The design attracts the user with its bright colors, technological savvy, and inviting yet futuristic form, while successfully blending in with the existing cafe decor. The Hear Music Media Bar furnishings, including customer interfaces mounted to existing furniture, lamp tables, media bar, and plasma screen, all work in conjunction with the proprietary user interface, also designed by Smart Design, to better facilitate an enjoyable, user-friendly experience.
