Duck Young Kong -- Saying Without Saying

Product and furniture designer Duck Young Kong currently participates in the MFA 3-D design program at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. His projects aim to merge design, technology and user interaction to yield thought-provoking objects and environments. One of his newest creations is Saying Without Saying, an abstract amalgamation involving a light, vase, and drinking glasses used to express emotion from one partner to another without the need to speak a word. As the glasses are turned right side up for use, they activate the switch for the lighted vase, which then calls to be filled with flowers. This chain reaction immediately brings forth a calm and romantic mood and setting. When no words will do, this marriage of interwoven actions and objects will leave any loved one starry-eyed, partly due to the wine in the glasses. In the other realm of amorous being, Saying Without Saying is the ultimate "I'm sorry. Really, I am..." gift for the times you really infuriate your partner and end up sleeping on the couch.
