Ian Gonsher, an Industrial Design student at RISD, has been awarded with an Honorable Mention in ID Magazine's most recent Annual Student Design Review for his collapsible fruit bowl design. The bowl is simply a flat plank of maple that has been laser-cut in an alternating pattern, granting incredible elasticity to an otherwise rigid material. The bowl is held in place with a glass disc that rests near the bottom. Gonsher's design is undoubtedly worthy of housing your 5 daily servings of fruits and veggies...and candy bars.
