Cocoon Branding is a Canadian multidisciplinary design firm with a central focus on bold brand concepts and innovations. The Winnipeg-based company has recently launched Oi, an ultra-modular seating/surface system causing mod-Tetris nerds around the world to soil their underoos. Oi (a lax way to say "hello" in many languages) is comprised of bar and L-shaped seating components, glass surfaces, and a linking base that can expand and minimize to accommodate any space. The seating components slip snugly onto the base and create flat surfaces, extensions, backrests and armrests. The entire system compacts neatly to save space for shipping and storage, whereas traditional sofas and chairs must be transported and stored as one entire piece. Cocoon seriously took sustainability into consideration, utilizing materials such as recyclable aluminum and steel, recycled/recyclable plastic, recycled/recyclable glass, and Eco-leather. Ahhh, modularity and enviro-awareness...the inevitable design trend amalgamation of then and now.
