| Smart Design -- South Hall: ZeroOne Festival Smart Design's San Francisco-based team was asked to envision and design the South Hall exhibit space for this year's ZeroOne Global Festival of Art on the Edge and Thirteenth International Symposium of Electronic Art (ISEA 2006) in San Jose, CA. Smart's team aimed to create a dynamic atmosphere in this main hall where artists' works were displayed throughout the event. The minimal budget called for innovative solutions such as constructing ready-made and reusable systems with a low environmental impact. On a tight schedule and using bare essentials materials such as scaffolding, scrim, and theatrical lighting, Smart produced a dramatic effect—a modern atmosphere that complimented the edgy collection of art. Steve Dietz, curator of ZeroOne, commented, "Smart Design took a vast and 'placeless' space in the South Hall and created a dynamic and human experience for our attendees. It was a remarkable transformation." More info: Smart Design Company Profile More Bullitts From Smart Design: Date Posted: September 08, 2006 |
