Nicholas Cheng and Sylvia Lai, both Hong Kong natives, have recently set up shop as Studioroom 906 in Eindhoven. Pocket Watch Alarm Clock, one of many pieces in their debut collection, gives new value to a traditional and outdated object. On its own, a pocket watch is not the most convenient time-teller to carry, nor does it offer any of today's technological niceties. Studioroom 209 has fashioned a sleek base that gives a pocket watch the ability to function as an alarm clock. Lifting the unit off of the table top triggers a motion sensor, causing a digital time display to appear, which then disappears when set back down. Ye olde pocket watch has been updated for use at home and on the go...rescued from timepiece extinction.
