| Giles Miller -- Ex-Box Bench Giles Miller, of UK furniture and product design collective Farm Designs, presented the Ex-box bench earlier this year during the London Design Festival. Corrugated cardboard, a very popular and almost beaten-to-death design gimmick, is a questionable material of choice, often used for sub-par imitations and one-trick-ponies. Thankfully, Miller's convertible, simple, and attractive design and construction save Ex-box from the fiery pits of furniture hell. Good form, versatility, and strength are jam-packed into this intelligent, cost-effective, and recyclable seating solution. The bench can be constructed as narrow as a dining chair or as long as, well, infinity—built upon a grid system, an endless amount of sections can be added on. Durability and support are no problem here, since cardboard interlocked and on edge provides a rock-solid surface for sitting, leaning, or lounging. As an added treat, the resulting geometric shape of the assembled piece projects similar unique patterns with light and shadow onto walls and floors.
