| SONIC Design -- InGrid Digital Home Protection System Home security systems have always been more of a nuisance than a convenience. Installation costs will leave you with no valuables to protect, sensors are always easy to trip, and monitoring the system is near to impossible. SONIC Design, a New York based industrial design firm, and InGrid Inc. tackled these very problems--creating a system that is adaptable and takes the hassle out of home security. The InGrid Digital Home Protection System--which won a 2007 CES Innovation Award--consists of a portable handset and broadband-enabled base station that interact with self-adhering, wireless sensors placed on windows and doors throughout the home. The portable base is always online and can be accessed from a computer or mobile phone. It also removes any frustration typically associated with stationary bases, and operates as a speaker phone and answering machine. The handset itself doubles as a telephone, and allows users to monitor everything from anywhere, whether inside or out.
