Tech Days' 11th edition is centered around the theme of "Designing New Scales for Matter." Hosted by the Elisava Barcelona School Engineering and Design, the conference aims to offer a panoramic view about functional, aesthetic, environmental, technological, productive and communicative aspects involved in carrying out an industrial product.
Currently, there is a new tendency of design based on nanomaterials and technology. It implies a paradigm shift in design applied to spaces, objects, products and even people.
These solutions are not visible to the human eye, while such new materials' production will act as a base for technological infrastructures that will affect future generations. The new matters that will replace former matters—such as silicon, a semiconductor essential for computers—are measured on a nanometrical scale. Undoubtedly, carbon has become the father of the best nanomaterials. Its versatility when combining with other geometries and its multiple atom organizations have generated a numerous family of new materials that, sooner or later, will change our daily life.
Tech Day 2016 aims to reflect about new forms for design and product development throughout this nano scale of matter and energy.
