A special urban and historical tie raises between the two cities, Ettlingen and Rastatt - a straight, 17km Castle axis from the early 18th century (the longest built in Germany). It is in spite of the obvious differences between the medieval Ettlingen and the Baroque planned city, Rastatt, they are both cities that have a lot to offer to their citizens. They offer advantages of a medium-sized town, including intact inner cities with high centrality, high quality residential and close proximity to nature.
These are the qualities that inspired the architectural showcase to present (as part of a series) Regional Building Culture Ettlingen and Rastatt. After looking back to baroque times, the subjects covered by the urban renewal in Ettlingen clamped to the latest housing projects in both cities. The exhibition aims to arouse curiosity around these cities.
