Type Directors Club has just announced a celebration of its 70th anniversary, a daylong series of typography talks in New York on March 10, concluding with an evening reception.
TDC has awarded twenty-nine medals to honor major contributions to typography since Hermann Zapf won the first in 1967. To celebrate this legacy, TDC has invited an international all-star lineup of type superstars to take the stage to speak about the importance of past medalists, type innovations over seven decades, and the future of type.
The all-day event will feature talks and conversations with TDC Medalists Ed Benguiat, Louise Fili, Paula Scher, and Erik Spiekermann, as well as former TDC presidents Allan Haley and Charles Nix.
The Type Directors Club, which was formed in New York City in 1946, is an international professional organization dedicated to educating the graphic arts and design communities about the value of typography in communication.
Everyone who loves type and design history is welcomed to the event, which is sponsored by School of Visual Arts and Monotype.
