Out of hundreds of entries three successive tiers emerged: the challengers, who, for reasons ranging from novelty to outlandishness, were set aside for further examination; the contenders, a gang of eleven pulled out of those ranks in a second round of judging and the champion, a sole entrant left alone in victory.
