A simple screensaver developed for architects and architecture firms. The screen provides critical data that corresponds to the metrics set forth in the Architecture 2030 Challenge. The screen will showcase a dynamic countdown of years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds until 2030. It also displays the current date and time, and a dynamic percentage corresponding to the 2030 fossil fuel reduction targets for new and renovated buildings [to reach carbon-neutral by the year 2030].
About Architecture 2030: Architecture 2030, a non-profit, non-partisan and independent organization, was established in response to the global-warming crisis by architect Edward Mazria in 2002. 2030's mission is to rapidly transform the US and global Building Sector from the major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions to a central part of the solution to the global-warming crisis. Our goal is straightforward: to achieve a dramatic reduction in the global-warming-causing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the Building Sector by changing the way buildings and developments are planned, designed and constructed.
Designers Statement: It is my hope that this screensaver will serve as a timely reminder and cultural reinforcement for architects, designers and engineers. With a black screen it will use little energy, in some cases reducing the power consumption of the computer screen. Beyond this, it is my hope that the simple, clean, red numerical display is a welcome addition in any office interior.
