It is the aim of the University to provide impetus in research and development for the region so that in twelve years time Vorarlberg and the surrounding area form one of the leading areas in Europe, both in terms of economic power and quality of life. Each year the University receives far more applications to its full-time degree and continual professional degree programmes than there are places. By playing a leading role graduates of the University actively shape the regional economy and society. Through the alumni organization graduates maintain close ties to and see themselves as ambassadors of the University. Businesses and institutions throughout the Lake Constance region (Euregio) are keen to work together with the University in order to profit from our excellent track record in research and development, as documented by the high number of internationally financed projects and prizes. Further impulses to the region are provided by the successful business ventures of our graduates. Openness, trust and commitment characterize both how faculty, staff and students work with each other and how they work with all social groups and stakeholders through the University’s active participation in the life of the region and through the University’s international ties with renowned research and teaching institutions throughout the world.
