Design for (Your) Product Lifetime Student Challenge Rules

FOR PERSONS OR TEAMS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CHALLENGE, THESE RULES GOVERN ALL ASPECTS OF PARTICIPATION AND PRIZE AWARD.

CHANGE LOG

  1. Introduction.  The Design for (Your) Product Lifetime Challenge ("Challenge") offers individuals or teams the chance to win a variety of prizes ("Prizes") by participating in a design competition ("Competition"). Three (3) winners will have their work selected from among all completed entries that are submitted.  The Challenge is sponsored by Autodesk ("Sponsor") Autodesk, Inc., 111 McInnis Parkway, San Rafael, CA 94903, USA. The selection of winners and award of the Prizes is administered by Core77 ("Administrator") 561 Broadway, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10012.
  2. Timing.  The Challenge will take place beginning on July 3, 2012 at 10:00 am Eastern Time ("ET") and submissions are due November 15, 2012. Administrator's computer is the official time-keeping device for this Challenge.
  3. Eligibility.  This contest is open to individuals and teams of students currently registered in an educational institution at the college/university level or recent graduates from the 2012 school year age 18 or older at the time of entry, from anywhere in the world. A valid driver's license or passport will be required as proof of age after the individual is selected, prior to the award of the Prize. Full and contract employees, officers and directors of Autodesk, Core77 or iFixit, their respective parents, subsidiaries, and agents, as well as the immediate family (defined as parents, spouses, children, siblings and grandparents) and household members of each such employee, officer and director are not eligible. By participating, entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor and Administrator, which are final and binding in all respects.
  4. Submission Requirements.
  5. Limit. Each participant or team may enter as many times as they would like by 1) completing the entry form, 2) providing the solution and storyboard in the required formats, 3) agreeing to the Official Rules.
  6. Selection Criteria. Entries will be awarded points and judged with the following criteria (100 points possible).
  7. Notification of Winners. Entrants selected must comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and distribution of prizes is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. Winners will be announced to the public on December 6, 2012.  Potential Winners will be notified by email at least (12) business days prior to the public announcement of the winners (by November 20, 2012).  Potential winner must execute and return to Administrator, within five (5) days of being notified (by November 26, 2012) a copy of a valid driver's license or passport in order to claim his/her Prize.  If a winner has not reached the age of 18 in his/her state of residence or country, an alternate entrant will be selected in his/her place based on points awarded.  If the potential winner cannot be contacted within five (5) days of the first attempt to contact him/her or if he/she fails to provide proof of age, an alternate entrant will be selected in his/her place based on points awarded.
  8. Prizes.

    Team winners will need to notify Core77 how they want the AmEx card prize money distribution among the team members. Every individual team member will receive a Pro Tech Base Toolkit.

    No substitution, assignment or transfer of Prizes permitted. Winners are solely responsible for any and all applicable fees and taxes associated with Prize receipt and use. 

  9. Ownership. Entrants retain ownership of all ideas and materials/images presented.
  10. Publicity.  Participation in the Promotion constitutes winner's consent to Sponsor's and Administrator's use of winner's entry images, entry statements, name, likeness, voice, opinions, country, hometown, or state for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration.
  11. General Conditions.  Sponsor and Administrator reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Challenge should virus, bugs, unauthorized human intervention, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor's or Adminstrator's reasonable control corrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper operation of the Challenge.  In such event, Administrator reserves the right to select winners from among the eligible entries received up to the time of impairment.  Administrator reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Competition or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or the Challenge in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.  Any attempt by any person to deliberately damage Sponsor's or Administrator's web site or undermine the legitimate operation of this Challenge may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor and Administrator reserve the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.  Sponsor's or Administrator's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
  12. Release.  By accepting the Prize, winner agrees that Sponsor and Administrator, their respective parents, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and the agents, employees, directors and officers of these companies, are not liable whatsoever for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of all elements of the Prize or from winner's participation in the Challenge.
  13. Limitations of Liability.  Sponsor and Administrator are not responsible for:  (1) incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information or late, lost, stolen, illegible, incomplete, misdirected entries or entries received through impermissible or illegitimate channels, all of which will be disqualified; (2) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunctioning of any telephone, computer, network, hardware or software; (3) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any Web site or service; (4) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the Challenge; (5) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Challenge; (6) any injury or damage to persons or property, including but not limited to entrant's computer, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant's participation in the Challenge or from downloading any material from Sponsor's or Administrator?s Web site(s), regardless of whether the material was prepared by Sponsor, Administrator or a third party, and regardless of whether the material is connected to Sponsor's or Administrator's Web site by a hypertext link.  No more than one Prize will be awarded at each level. In the event that A Better World by Design Conference is canceled by the conference planners for any reason, that part of the First Place Prize will not be awarded.
  14. Disputes.  Entrant agrees that:  (1) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Challenge, or any elements of the Prizes awarded, other than the administration of the Challenge or the determination of winners shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate New York State Court located in New York County, New York, U.S.A.; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event attorneys' fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.  SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.  All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant, Sponsor and Administrator in connection with the Challenge shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of New York, U.S.A., without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions (whether of the State of New York, U.S.A., or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of New York, U.S.A.  All federal, state, provincial and local laws apply.
  15. Data Collection.  Sponsor and Administrator collect personal information from you when entrants fill out the entry form.  The information collected is subject to the Privacy Policy of the Sponsor and the Privacy Policy of the Administrator.
