Now in its third year, Helsinki Design Week is an international festival for the creative industries. Spread across several venues—the galleries, studios and museums of Design District, the exhibition halls and event spaces at the Cable Factory, and at at the convention-hall spaces of Habitare, the event brings designers and visitors together in a week-long celebration of design and creativity.

With barely enough time to recover from Milan in April, New York Design Week (May 19 - 22) shifted its focus back to Manhattan with the strongest ICFF show seen in years, schools participated with high concept booths and well resolved prototypes. The crowd pleaser was HauteGREEN, clearly the most outstanding satellite exhibition for those on the design trail.

Design Philadelphia (April 12-27), hosted a number of events, exhibitions and lectures. Highlights included the "Philly Heart Design" show and symposium "The Grid".
