I think the Guilty wallet is a fantastic concept. Because it questions our culture. And unlike many other solutions its not just (a) solution to (a) problem look at where we are today in terms of the financial crisis. we are here because we as a pe

All you questions about the Guilty Wallet Answered http://guiltywallet.blogspot.com/

11.Feb 5th, 2009Jamie

The whole point of these wallets is to reduce consumerism, but they are designed for an audience of consumers! These are products that we don't need—we would buy them solely for the 'cool factor'. By producing these we would actually be encouraging people to consume products that are simply cute and offer no benefit. I say take the resources that would go into the wallets' production and put them toward something useful.

12.Feb 5th, 2009ruhel

wow this site really explains the wallet idea really well must see this : http://guiltywallet.blogspot.com/

13.Feb 5th, 2009Farah

This is such an intelligent concept! Beautifully designed and executed too. Great visuals combined with functionality and intelligence. I'm impressed..

14.Feb 5th, 2009Shibli

it's kool

15.Feb 5th, 2009Javed Anjum Sheikh

No doubt, The used metaphors are brilent.....I hope it can be used if ego does not create any hurdle

16.Feb 5th, 2009Dave

What a brilliant idea to fight consumerism! Seven expensive, resource intensive, must have wallets that will... how did the designer describe the problem they will solve? Oh yes, landfill full of high-tech GREEN GADGETS. Give me a break! This one can't pass the straight face test, and one of them can't pass the smell test BY DESIGN!

17.Feb 5th, 2009Leanne

Gadgets that stop you from accessing your money will be left at home, to be dumped into the landfill while you carry your cards in a real wallet. Heck, when I buy online, I don't even use a wallet... I know my credit card number off by heart. A better idea? Leave your card at home and carry cash. That way you'll have the same connection to physical money all your predecessors had.

18.Feb 6th, 2009J Kitchen

Guilty Wallet,totally agree.

19.Feb 6th, 2009Chris

Yo Mr Dave your right in saying "a brilliant idea to fight consumerism" but wow so angry ! i think your forgetting that this concept is is trying to make a real statement, something that the other designers forgot to do. I think it says: 'Green gadgets are a must! (Obviously) !!! But we are totally overlooking the issue of consumerism. If we reduce our consumer culture than the world stands a better chance at going green'

20.Feb 6th, 2009ML

I understand that some designers have explicitly made the link to eco friendly. This product is saying 'Think before you act', which can be applied to all aspects of our lives in order to save energy/ consume moderately. Thinking before acting is the ultimate way to start controlling our actions and a product that promotes this should be congratulated for trying to reinforce this positive concept. Those who disagree should either try to reinforce another positive concept or be construct

21.Feb 6th, 2009James

I understand that some of the other products may have more of an eco-frienldy look about them however, I think that this product's concept enagage's with the root of the problem which is largely linked to consumer consumption based on not thinking before acting. Perhaps people should try and apply another cocept when critisisng..I think it's called...mmmm.... what was it... oh yes that's it "constructive critisism" rahter than just insulting the product. I think making many e

22.Feb 6th, 2009Yr

Don't agree with Dave's wholly negative comment- eerrr what point were you making. Be constructive in your criticism not insulting or condesending. According to my view it's a great concept-asking us to Think before we act!!! Designer should be congratulated for promoting this.

23.Feb 6th, 2009yumma

Wow- 'Think before you act' -that's what this product says to me!! Brilliant.

24.Feb 6th, 2009R

BrillianT!!

25.Feb 6th, 2009Mark Thomas

I feel that this is essentially, the most successful product from all that I have seen in the competition. It not only sticks to the design brief. But it will tackel the root cause(seven sins) of current and future environmental problems. When making that unnecessary puchase, it will make the consumer ask themselves; "do i really need to purchase this?" Not to mention, it will be perfect for credit loving consumers about to experience the sharp end of a recession.

26.Feb 6th, 2009Geoffrey Mosini

Hey nice approach ! I personally dislike taste for fancy wallets, cellphones and stuff like that. My wallet is 8 years old and reflects one of the worst experience of my life during an USA trip. I dislike money, yes we can do nice thing from it. But I still consider money as a bad approach to build a society onto. And these wallets do the same than mine, giving the worst example of stupidity, from an high tech unfriendly toy. Still, I would have an other suggestion. The opposite approach to the

27.Feb 6th, 2009khadeza

billiant ideaaa...I'd get one, but spoilt for choice!

28.Feb 7th, 2009Random Hero

I could see this as a trendy conversation piece but not much more. So does this wallet make me feel guilty even though the majority of my money goes to paying bills and keeping food on the table? Then again, if my paycheck is spent on bills and groceries I won't have any disposable income left to spend on an over priced wallet. So, no guilt here.

29.Feb 7th, 2009HASAN

innovative...cool

30.Feb 7th, 2009Shafi

here's the next richard branson dude..

31.Feb 7th, 2009Diana

32.Feb 7th, 2009Blessing

hi rhuel my teacher is your sister yumma but i just want to say keep on trying and you`ll get there bye from blessing.

33.Feb 7th, 2009Dr Stephen Harper

This in essence is not a amazing product solution at all. It is in many ways a powerful statement and a breath of fresh air . We as a people must listen to its very simple set of message's . the wallets are an intelligent connection to the visceral and visual desire that we have for products. We should buy for a true need not a false desire and let that be the foundation of GOING GREEN! Well done to you Mr Guilty Wallet

34.Feb 7th, 2009ziko

its really god

35.Feb 8th, 2009Polly

Guilty concept sounds fantastic. Goodluck!

36.Feb 8th, 2009blessing

38.Feb 9th, 2009QUAZI ABDUL MAJID

GOOD LUCK

39.Feb 10th, 2009Hannah

I think this is a brilliant idea and i can completly see it changing my attitude towards spending, for the first time i think it will really get me to think about needs and about the purchase itself at the time of making a transaction, what a clever idea! I have trouble with spending (like many of us!), thinking i may use or need somthing and then convincing myself i can return the item but never actually doing it, so i think if im made aware of the costs and my ability to afford the item, it wi

WICKED i want LUST!! how much

43.Feb 10th, 2009CArrie

I say yes! Hand one out to each person in Congress! They'll think twice before blowing billions of dollars.

44.Feb 10th, 2009Bart

Poetic concept. And we agree that "consumerism" is the problem. However, how will buying SEVEN novelty wallets (instead of one) help solve this issue?

45.Feb 11th, 2009amina

cooool!! :)

46.Feb 11th, 2009wally

good idea but needs more refinement

47.Feb 11th, 2009kelly

While this is cool and interesting in concept, the reality of creating 7 wallets rather than 1 doesn't seem like an environmentally conscious idea. Maybe I'm missing the point of the competition, as it has prompted a lively debate here. Maybe a more practical solution is something my sister gave me called the Jimi wallet. Simple and made from recycled plastic.

48.Feb 11th, 2009M Ibrahim

Cool designs bro.. a bit crazy mind. keep it up! Is Wally our teacher from Middlesex?

49.Feb 11th, 2009Yusuf

NICE 1 : )

50.Feb 11th, 2009Random MUM also needs a Guilty wallet

in reply to Random dad... I than turn around and say Babe my wallet has locked me out as well. so i guess we are doing the dishes tonight to pay our way. on a serious note i think the idea its self is a really good one however i think its a little too ambitious . but hats off to the designer for trying to dream. unlike any other entries in this comp.

51.Feb 12th, 2009David Freitas

I really like Ruhel's Guilty wallet idea. It helps us to think twice before spending. It is something that will help a lot of people who spend without thinking in the consequences. Very welcome nowadays, well done Ruhel.

52.Feb 12th, 2009REJJY

Thiis shit is soo truee!

53.Feb 14th, 2009opu

Interesting idea..... i lyk dat way

54.Feb 19th, 2009Lloyd

interesting...

55.Feb 19th, 2009Ayobami

A brilliant concept, if well analyzed it says a lot about the way the economy in Europe and North America operates, an idea which is being imbibed at the speed of light in Africa and Asia due to the fact that the world has turn to a global village. That culture needs to be changed if, suicide rate is to reduce drastically all over the globe.

56.Feb 19th, 2009Azeem

Good One. good Luck

57.Feb 19th, 2009Marvin Cyrus

F***** WICKED!!!!

63.Feb 19th, 2009nazim ahmed

i think this idea is great.I do agree that society needs new gadgets it is pivitol. carbon footprints are a major issue which needs to be taken very serious, if we want the world to carry on and our future generation can live and grow up in a pleasant environment .The concept u have created is small steps, but you contribute to the overall mission to cut down carbon footprints in society, and the world.

are the videos we made on up here? please let me know!

69.Feb 21st, 2009Ahmed

It's a concept I've heard of before, but I've never seen it demonstrated so pragmatically before. Keep it going.

70.Feb 21st, 2009Sabir

Hmmmm, to be honest, I'll be more embarrassed to pull out a bright colored wallet, That would be enough to prevent me from spending. I think an improvement to this idea would be something similar to a birthday card that has a melodic tune. When the user opens the wallet, a voice screams out which prevents the excessive spending. You still get my vote! All the best insha'allah.

71.Feb 22nd, 2009Imran

The "Guilty Wallet" concept is far greater, in my opinion, than any other featured in the competition simply because its purpose of tackling consumerism is original unlike the other products; its not another solar powered this or an energy conserving that. Yes they all may be great ideas but products of the same like are being produced continuously around the world where as the Guilty Wallets idea sheds light on a bigger issue which has been left in the dark. Consumerism is the root to
