Light, Time & Us... All we are sharing the same time and the same planet to which the sun gives life. However, modern life makes us self-focused, and causes us to forget that we are a part of total life chain on our planet. Global warming, enviromental pollution and biological pollution threaten this chain and a sustainable lifecycle.

Lightimus is a decorative lighting design emphasizing the importance of the life cycles of our planet by keeping on its own life cyle during its usage. The product is in the form of an hourglass. One side is composed of solar panels and accumulates energy during day time. The other side is composed of a series of LED lights to lighten its enviroment during night time. When fully charged, its NiMh Battery can illuminate 12 LED bulbs (3mms) for up to 8 hours. When the lights fade away in the morning, you rotate the other side and put it under the sun; in the night it will be ready to illuminate its enviroment again. And the cycle continues - there is no switch on this product.

There is a photo resistor on the solar panel side of the product. As soon as you turn this side downwards, you put the lights on. LED bulbs fade away gradually, passing time like an hourglass. (Technical details of the product are given on the project drawings.) LIGHTIMUS is an innovative green lighting device with pure and meaningful form, intellectual structure and didactic usage.

Greenhouse effect, carbon emission, air and water polution what else is needed to endanger our future? Are waiting aliens to come and help us as in "the time the earth stood still" The project looks so marvelous and I am glad a Turk signed it. We are ysed to copying other nations inventions. This little lamp gives me hope for future. I know it is not the Alladdin's lamp but still it has a gen(e) ious behind it.

Poetic, and obviously a nice piece of modern artwork. However, it's just an hour glass with a solar panel and some LEDs. What is the purpose or function, how does this change behavior, why is the world better with this device --- doesnt this defy a fundamental principle of sustainable design?

For improving consciousness about using renewable energy, this not only offers a green energy consuming product, but also an instructional green experience. Good luck for deeply considered project.

Now THIS feels like the beginning of a better future. Beautiful, functional, progress of ideas.....All that's needed is to be sure that all the components are part of a cycle too....and that the manufacturing and transport is run on renewable energy!
