An interactive sensor controlled LED Lighting system that illuminates cross country trails

In Nothern territories there is National Sport of nightly cross country (CC) skiing. Because of the situation of sparsely sunshine hours plenty of social, cultural, sporty outdoor activities must be held in twilight or darkness.

CC trail is prepared with series of coloured LEDs embedded in the track. The benefit of LED technologie is, besides being water and frost-proof, the ability to control each single LED in colour and intensity.

The intention of the illumination is mainly to divide trails into segments of content. INAC innovation is that a cross country trail is subdivided concerning the contents by means of light colour and luminosity. There is colour encoding system for rise, straight and fall trail sections. Currently red is choosen for uphill, blue for flat and lilac for downhill.

CC skier is now able to recognize by colour of light either how long he has to climb a hill or when the next downhill course comes. Because of different colours sportsmen is able to zone his staying powers and his physical strengths. The encoding of the INAC.CC colour system has furthermore psychological effects. It is a well-known fact that red and orange represents power-operated and stimulating qualities. By way of contrast, blue stands generally for calming down.

Projecting feature of INAC.CC lighting is the interactive and dynamic response on skier. With the help of pressure sensors or proximity switches the lights will intensify their luminosity in interdependence to moving persons. Passing sportsmen is encases of a glowing light shell.
