Bootek is a linkage system designed to promote the use of Bamboo in a western context. Made from recycled (and recyclable) polypropylene, its components clamp, plug, hinge, and link bamboo lengths with a diameter of 20 -25mm. Bamboo as a widely available and natural material offers a physically and environmentally light structural element. Children and adults alike can explore and build with Bootek, anything from a geodesic dome to a simple square frame, a babies swing to a sun shade. The Bootek system will evolve a catalogue of specialised elements to cater for the thousand of uses it is capable of.
