Solar Billboard
Henry Yu - United StatesWith most of the world’s oil supplies in recession and an increasing demand for clean energy, photovoltaic technologies will only continue to get more efficient and hopefully cheaper to implement. A potential problem may be real estate to place photovoltaic collection devices. In order to help push social change to accept alternative energy, media companies can start implementing solar power collection outfits onto their existing billboards.
1. Billboards are covered with photovoltaic cells and are encased in a
protective shell.
2. Media is printed on either a micro-perforated or semi-transparent film
that allows the ad to be seen and allows photon light particles to pass
through.
3. Collected photon particles are turned into DC energy.
4. An onsite inverted converts DC into AC and transfers the energy into
the grid.
Advertising solar energy in a passive manner can promote eco-responsibility,
increased technological acceptance, as well as prove profitable for media
companies. Companies that are willing to accept green advertising will see
increased brand equity because they are promoting social responsibility
and green values.
