Take that, iPod.

Sony has just introduced the Qualia 017 MiniDisc player. With its new Hi-MD format, you can record 45 hours of music on a single 1GB disc (which only cost $7). But this sweet piece of audio sex will put you back about $1,900.

Let's hear it for hand-made craftmanship: The 017 is forged and machined, from a single piece of brass, then coated with palladium to give it a seamless appearance and more durable construction. Sony has announced that only 15 units will be produced per month (and those by special order only). Thus, the $1,900 price tag.

Also, the silicone-gasketed brass (of course) earbuds are said to boost bass and clarify treble.
