Pampered Roads

The Japanese Government is testing a road covering designed to reduce road surface temperatures.  The material includes hydrophilic polymers like those used in disposable diapers.  By retaining some rain water, evaporative cooling can reduce the surface temperature by up to 20 degrees C, which helps keep cars from overheating, as well as being easier on tires and feet.  The principle employed is the same one used in Mohammed Bah Abba's genius Pot in Pot.
