Clear as a Coffee Mug
The star of Casio's cameras over the next few years will not be their impressive feature sets, but rather their slimness. Using a new transparent ceramic material they can shrink the thickness of their zoom lenses to even tinier dimensions than the last Exilim model. Lumicera, their ceramic savior has a refractive index of 2.08 - up to 25% higher than traditional optical glass. While most applications of this new material will be in precision optics, it's ultra high light bending properties could pack some real punch for glassware and lighting. But the price has to come down first.
