LNP has added relatively lightweight members to its line of high-specific-gravity thermoplastics. The company's Thermocomp HSG line, which in the past covered a specific gravity range from 5.0 to 10.0, now includes grades in the 2.0 to 5.0 specific gravity range. These new materials consist of a combination of resins and proprietary high-density fillers.
Thermocomp HSG compounds target applications that require the high-quality look and feel of metal while providing the design flexibility of injection molding. The putters shown allow the customer to customize the feel by choosing from three differently weighted hostels which are assembled on the back. The LPN material could be manipulated to provide specific gravities of 5.25, 6.25 and 7.25 — all using the same mold. The compounds can also replace metals in applications that require resiliency, such as those used in medical devices and surgical instruments.
