Plastics That Live Up To Their Name
You may have seen Smile Plastics work before in the popular Eco-design Handbook: A Complete Sourcebook for the Home and Office. They create new raw sheet material from a variety of waste sources: everything from disposable coffee cups to re-ground pirated CDs (which makes the most amazing faux-shell material)
New this year are their Wellies and Mobiles lines, made from... well, recycled Wellingtons and mobile phone housings. Some of their material looks a little too 1980s Cyndi Lauper for my tastes, but other stuff, like the yogurt cup sheets is really beautiful and subtle.
