And You Thought Silk Was Thin

Have you ever wished you buy socks that were really sheer? Well you probably haven't, but if so, your future is looking bright. Researchers at The University of Manchester have succeeded in creating a "fabric" which represents a single layer of graphite. That's right, this stuff is one atom thick. Called Graphene it's great for all the usual nanotech applications: single molecule supercomputers, cheap flexible computer displays, basically it's going to save the world. Unfortunately the current largest pieces they can make are 10 microns across, so super thin t-shirts aren't on the horizon. We'll just have to wait.
