A team of researchers at the University of Warwick in the UK have developed a new approach to recycling used mobile phones. With assistance from PVAXX Research and Development, they have modified an existing biodegradable polymer to produce a material that provides a high quality finish, and also biodegrades easily in compost. Then, the team embedded dwarf sunflower seeds in the material and molded it into plastic phone casings. When the time comes to upgrade the phone, users simpky bury the old unit, and a sunflower will sprout in two weeks.
