A HISTORY OF BRAUN DESIGN: ELECTRIC SHAVERS

Braun has been a benchmark for beautiful and functional design from its founding as an audio manufacturer in the '30s, to the debut of the S50 shaver in the '50s and including its current innovations in personal care like CoolTec dry shaver for sensitive skin. Core77 is proud to launch a microsite dedicated to the history of Braun design. Over the next few months, we'll be doing a deep dive on the histories of Braun's Shavers, Time Pieces, Audio, Kitchen Appliances and Hair Care product categories.

JACK OF ALL TRADES, MASTER OF NONE: DANGER FOR INTERACTION DESIGN

Jeroen van Geel, interaction director and founder of JohnnyHolland.com, warns that the ever-expanding reach of interaction design is on a slippery slope to becoming a jack of all trades, master of none. Interaction designers have a great curiosity and want to understand many aspects of life. Is interaction design in danger of becoming more a belief than a field?

Here's how it works.

What's Your Favorite Design Movie/Documentary?
“I'm sure this topic has been discussed before, but I am curious about it.

What are you favorite/most inspiring design movies/documentaries?

Yes, most of us have seen objectified! But there must be a lot more than that.”

Solidworks to Rhino
“So I've been working in Solidworks for a number of years. My background is in Mechanical Engineering but I've been branching off and exploring some generative design concepts. I've been working with Processing with the intent to transition to Grasshopper and Rhino.

So my next step is to start learning Rhino and I was wondering if any of you had experience making the transition from Solidworks to Rhino. I know that they're not interchangeable, I'm just looking to add some new tools to my kit.

If anyone has any advice or resources for learning Rhino, making the switch from Parametric to NURBS, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.”
