The Hayon Collection includes a selection of bathroom furniture such as console tables and cabinets as well as basins, baths, brassware, shower screens, mirrors and lighting, accompanied by a variety of accessories and decorative items. Set in Style: The Jewelry of Van Cleef & Arpels
Since its opening on the Place Vendôme in Paris in 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels has played a leading role in style and design innovation. Its timeless pieces have been worn by style icons including the Duchess of Windsor, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor. This exhibition will explore the historical significance of the firm's contributions to jewelry design in the 20th century, including the establishment of Van Cleef & Arpels in New York with the advent of World War II. On view will be more than 350 works including jewels, timepieces, fashion accessories and objets d'art by Van Cleef & Arpels, many of which were created exclusively for the American market. The exhibition will examine the work through the lenses of innovation, transformation, nature as inspiration, exoticism, fashion and personalities, and will include design drawings from the Van Cleef & Arpels archives.

Color Moves: Art and Fashion by Sonia Delaunay
Known primarily as an abstract painter and colorist, Sonia Delaunay applied her talents and theories to all areas of visual expression, including graphics, interiors, theater and film, fashion and textiles. A trademark of Delaunay's work is the sense of movement and rhythm created by the simultaneous contrasts of certain colors. This exhibition will focus on fashion designs from her own Atelier Simultané in Paris during the 1920s, as well as textiles designed for the Metz & Co. department store in Amsterdam in the 1930s. On view will be examples of designs, textiles, garments and photographs from the Musée des Arts Decoratifs, Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, the Musée de l'Impression sur Etoffes in Mulhouse, the Bibliotheque Nationale de France and private collections around Europe and the United States.

Tension
At any moment in time, there can be a spontaneous connection occurring consciously or unconsciously. Not only from the visible and obvious connections such as family, friends, social groups or virtual networks... but also from your organic environment. Tension is a project that will exploit these moments where people connect by realizing the moment, we can appreciate it and be sensitive to it. During the installation, emogayu will be collecting stationary goods, games and toys for the people in the shelter who are living day by day and trying to get back to their life. Please feel free to bring something.

Materials Matter
In the absence of material expression, design is sort of like the sound of one hand clapping. Can you hear it now? No. Can you see the idea? Probably not. Does it work? Hardly, or at least not in the way the designer intended. That's why there's no greater resource for designers and design-watchers than Materials Matter. GLM's annual joint venture with Material ConneXion, Inc., Materials Matter fascinates, delights, and, yes, occasionally confounds even design's most technologically savvy practitioners—the materials wonks—with its remarkable showcase of next-generation materials and production equipment. The featured materials this year will include polymers, glass, ceramics, carbon-based substances, cement-based compounds, metals, natural materials and their derivatives. In-depth exploration of processes will include everything from injection molding to rapid prototyping and more.

Design Deutschland 2011
The landscape of contemporary German design is varied and diverse, but with distinctive characteristics: function predicts form, pared to its essence and beautifully, efficiently, and lastingly manufactured. One could argue that it's a matter of DNA, and that the post-reunification generation is modernism directly descended from Herr Schinkel, the granddaddy of them all, the Bauhaus, and Dieter Rams.

Metropolis Conference/Design Entrepreneurs: Local Talent, Global Markets
This year, the Metropolis Conference focuses on the ever-growing desire for designs and experiences that are sustainable and authentic. Over the course of the day, an international group of designers, architects, and manufacturers will discuss the overwhelming need to produce distinctive designs for a clientele in search of deep emotional resonance, measurable eco-accountability, and, dare we say it, truth. Participants from Norway, India, Spain, U.S., and elsewhere will show how they connect with local cultures while producing objects with global appeal. They will also explore what buildings designed for specific cultures and climates can teach us about our own built environment. Most important, they will explain how all this activity can create jobs and livelihoods in communities worldwide.

Joe Doucet
Whyte Label
Joe Doucet Studio is pleased to announce the launch of Whyte Label by Joe Doucet, an exciting new collection of bespoke furniture and objects that pushes the boundaries of concept and craftsmanship. The first collection of Whyte Label sees beauty in the everyday, the unnoticed and even in the dismissed, viewing inherent aspects of their basic make-up such as materials, construction or form, and elevating them into design features. Each of the made-to-order pieces in this series of furniture and objects is indeed beautiful and exceptionally crafted, but together they also challenge our notions of "common" and "ordinary."

Design CAN Fight Hunger, a food drive to benefit City Harvest
Royal Botania, a Belgian manufacturer of outdoor luxury products, returns to the Meatpacking District during NY Design Week 2011. To bring more "spice" to Spice Market Square, Royal Botania will offer both an outdoor installation and a food drive through a partnership with City Harvest. The installation, designed by architect Francis D’Haene, draws its inspiration from French poet Arthur Rimbaud and his powerful poem, “Hunger.” Featuring the words of this poem as well as dining table from Royal Botania, visitors are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to combat hunger in New York City. One pound of food helps to feed one person for a day. Together, we CAN make a difference!

Touch
coffee, design & community.
During this year's installment of New York Design Week, TOUCH will present an engaging installation of social and sustainable projects from Brazilian designers and artisans that are working with basic materials, under sometimes difficult conditions, to create meaningful work. While beautifully designed, its the story behind the work presented that impresses. TOUCH co-founder Zoë Melo will share first hand impressions of her work with artisan communities and organizations in some of the poorest neighborhoods in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
