Living Climate Change is an online resource assembled by IDEO to "extend the dialogue beyond policy and politics and toward inspiring, human-centered scenarios that create new possibilities for business and society." The site includes IDEO-produced videos and articles on a wide range of topics, from education to energy.
Now, in partnership with DESIGN 21, they are inviting you to produce an original video that envisions how climate change will impact life on Earth over the next 20 to 30 years.
The deadline is May 25, 2010, and the brief follows:
The Living Climate Change Video Challenge calls for an original video that envisions how climate change will impact life on Earth over the next 20 to 30 years. IDEO and DESIGN 21 are looking for new thinking and thoughtful ideas on a sustainable future and are particularly concerned with which behaviors need to change or be preserved. Interested participants must submit a video or still image/text animation of no more than two minutes, accompanied by a 400-word description. The challenge is open to individuals and teams of all ages but will be divided into two age categories: "18 and over" and "Under 18" with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
The roster of judges is top-notch, including Gary Hustwit, director of Objectified and Helvetica; Sir Ken Robinson, education and creativity expert; Matt Hunter, chief design officer of the Design Council; Milton Chen, executive director emeritus of the George Lucas Edcational Foundation; Xeni Jardin, Boing Boing editor; David Kelly, founder of IDEO; Wendy E. Brawer, founding director of Green Map System; and Core77's own Allan Chochinov.
One overall winner in each age category will be awarded a grand prize of $3,000 and a "Deep Dive" half-day workshop with IDEO.
