Studio Job is at it again, continuing to create lamps and furnishings from iconic cultural references. We wanted to make sure you didn't miss their newest projects: The Wrecking Ball and Crane Lamps, commissioned by the Carpenter Workshop Gallery, where they will be shown later this week (and through May 20th, 2010).

The two lamps explore the theme of industry, miniaturizing the important industrial inventions. Small bulbs light the cabin of the of both bronze structures.

More information over at Dezeen, where all of Studio Job's body of work can be found, in the absence of their own portfolio site.

A few shots follow.

This Just Inbox: Usin-e's Lisiere table mirror

French design studio USIN-e just sent us images of Lisiere, a table mirror, produced in an edition of 50 for Granville Gallery. Other than the clear references to nameplates and men cards, little information about their project, only that it shows off the craft of mirror polishing, and that it...

    Home and Housewares 2010:
    The story of Joseph Joseph

Joseph Joseph is no stranger to the pages of Core77, blogged a couple of times in the past year or so. We ran into Richard Joseph, one of the twins behind the company, at the Home and Housewares Show in Chicago earlier this week and had a little chat about...

A record sleeve that transforms into a record player

Who needs turntables when you have cardboard? GGRP Sound has come up with a brilliant way to play records: with the record sleeve. The needle-embedded carboard package folds up to hold a 45rpm in place, making sound while you spin it with a pencil. Instead of outputting to...

    Thirty-six shades of prussian blue

The new issue of web mag Triple Canopy is out, and we're loving the first feature: "Thirty-six Shades of Prussian Blue." Here Joshua Cohen collects observations from historical and scholarly sources on the origins, production and uses of Prussian Blue: the world's first artificial color. It's a great read, and...
