In any form of digital production, there's the annoying issue of reference. Meaning: do you go buy the software tome that has all the information you need, knowing that it will be outdated in a short time? Or, do you stick to Google searches, resigned to the inevitability of wasting time on poor tutorials and stupid forum questions in search of the what you are looking for?
Safari Books Online, run by Tim O'Reilly and Pearson Publishers, are addressing this middle ground by launching Creative Edge, a subscription-based database of videos and books on creative software production suites, circumventing both Google and Barnes&Noble.
Check out the materials (everything from CAD to video editing to web applications), prices and plans here.
Yay! Now I can finally cancel my lynda account. Don't get me wrong, I always liked the content but tended to buy books to have for quick instructional stuff. Seems like this can save me tons of cash.
