Linda Liu & Michael Leung, two designers based in Hong Kong, have just started 24 Hour Market, a network of local markets from around the world. Through this portal, people can purchase regional and cultural objects directly from independent market vendors.

As a huge fans of night/street markets, we love the concept, even in its infancy. Currently, only a few stalls from Hong Kong's Ladies' Market are shown, selling shoes, combs, games and lighters. Locations in Stockholm, Shanghai and London are marked as coming soon.

The interface, sadly, needs work—it's clear that the designers are trying to mix a purchasing platform with a visual narrative, but it's not quite there yet. Maybe they should team up with text-to-buy experts Subports? In any case, the project is worth the experimentation and will certainly improve with time.

    Tyler Thompson's boarding pass re-design pile-on

Every once in a while a designer will come across somthing ugly and feel the need to do something about it. So it was with Squarespace Creative Director Tyler Thompson, who late last year found himself aesthetically offended by the mess that is a Delta Airlines boarding pass.So I took...

The Henge Dock reminds me of something....

At a run-time of 4:16 this video is wayyy too long for a commercial, but load it and fast-forward to 1:04 and 1:37 to see the awesome Henge Dock in action. It's basically a one-step way to attach your MacBook to an external monitor/keyboard/mouse set-up, obviating the need to plug...

Finally! Urban bike sharing comes to the 'States

First there was ZipCar and now there's B-Cycle, a sharing system of "magic bikes that are there when you want one and gone when you don't." While the idea of urban bike sharing is not new, as those familiar with France's Velib can attest, B-Cycle is a rather unusual collaboration...
