It's rare that we see a fun car commercial that really captures the spirit of any given model, but this 60-second spot of the Mini Countryman tearing up Milan does the trick.
Also check out this fascinating behind-the-scenes look at how they achieved the visual trickery. We were surprised to see the guy "driving" a virtual car with an actual steering wheel around 1:45.
Come on awa64 its a blatant rip off of Trackmanias 1k 2k and now 3k replays... I have no problem with ideas growing and being shared, but I am sick of those originators not being at least mentioned if not credited, this is not the hundredth monkey point! coming up with marketing campaigns has turned from a job for creators to a job for curators, namely curators of the internet.
Give credit where credit is due! this idea has been around since 2006.
Fairly reminiscent, visually, of Trackmania 1K Replay videos--but in a very cool way, with a lot of impressive technical skills used to bring it into real-world environments and some nifty "character" bits that really show attention to detail.
I've been worried that Mini has been devaluing their brand with the myriad variations they've been pumping out, but their marketing is still top-notch. I hope their next commercial is as good as this one.
