Nike has recently launched its "Genealogy of Innovation" campaign, and the promo video by Golden Wolf is an impressive piece of footwear-centric eye candy, featuring some 200 shoes in all, including signature styles by the Hatfield brothers, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Mark Parker et al. Check it out:
Sure, the slick treatment feels a bit like pure hype, but there is indeed a long history of design behind the marketing-speak. If the video piqued your interest, it's worth exploring the interactive chronology on the microsite as well. Charting out Nike's history of footwear innovation over the course of seven distinct eras (as in the video), the site also allows for navigation by Innovation—cushioning, natural motion, dynamic-fit, etc.—and offers a nice survey of Nike footwear through the years.
