Now in its 14th year, Collab's Annual Student Design Competition has a provocative theme: The Intelligent Ornament.
Here's the pitch:
The Intelligent Ornament is part of a week-long series of events celebrating Collab's 2006 Design Excellence Award recipient, Georg Jensen and Georg Jensen, Inc. It poses the question: If Jensen were alive today, what objects might he be moved to create?
The competition challenges students to design a physical model and supporting presentation board for their "Intelligent Ornament." A distinguished panel of judges will use both in measuring the overall success of each entry.
The distinguished ones are: Clive Roux, Virgil Marti, Barbara Flanagan, Monique Faber and Maria Eife. And the whole thing's organized by Core-fave Josh Owen.
A couple curious competition caveats: "Competition is open to both local and non-local students, however, all entries must be hand delivered by their designers and all applicants must be present at the awards ceremony."
So think globally, folks, but act locally.
