Paper? No thanks. Plastic? Nah. Paper and plastic? Geez! So we're already familiar with official anti-plastic bag movements going full force in San Francisco, L.A., and even NYC, but CalArts student Roman Jaster stepped up to the plate, as a one-man army, at a Ralph's grocery store in Valencia, California, on this past Earth Day. "Paper Nor Plastic criticizes the obscene amount of paper and plastic bags that Americans consume." Equipped with a table, sewing machine, and a voice, Jaster gave away free bags to shoppers in exchange for a signed pledge that they'd use the bag when they shopped for at least the next six months.
