This project was inspired by the humble milk crate—whose versatility and simplicity has kept them around generation after generation. Our crates can be used, well, as crates, or stacked to make a shelf and even used as extra seats in a pinch. They're CNC milled from indestructible Russian birch plywood, no MDF or particle board here. You can slam these things, brimming with books, into the back of a station wagon and they won't give out. Unlike the milk crate, ours arrive flat and can be assembled without tools thanks to the unique, locking snap joint.
If you need a shelf once your books have found a home, our crates are made to stack on top of each other. They are the perfect size for a record collection or to store your electronics as an entertainment center. And, of course, for the times when you have more guests than you have chairs, they are just the right height for sitting around the table. You can also line the four of them up next to the door to make a bench with a place to put you shoes under it. A cork pad on both sides of the crate make a seat surface or bulletin board when the crates are stacked.
